Finance Talk – The Abundance Formula

Finance Talk – The Abundance Formula

Money Talks – Bro. Bo Sanchez
The same talk was actually delivered by Bro. Bo at St. Joseph’s Church on 19thFeb. 2015. The Talk one of Kerygma’s Grand Conference is called MONEY Talks.
I will skip the witty intro of Bro. Bo – but let me share this important line that struck me while he shares this talk. He said “God wants us to be abundant, to be rich – in order for us to use these richness in helping the poor” timely indeed for our Community’s theme this year! Acts 4:34 – No One in Need “Look at Jesus, Look at the Poor”
Do we ever experience feeling sorry for some and thought of giving some money but can’t because we also don’t have enough? This is Bro. Bo’s point. Aside from this fact, as OFW we also long to be with our families soon and we hope to spend more of our time with our loved ones.
People are more important than things, so Bro. Bo said, know how things work – be an expert about things so that when you master “them” (Things/money) – you will be able to prioritize people.
This is through his “4 Abundance Formula”.
1.       Earn 100%
We all earn 100% but what actually Bro. Bo iterates here is that we have to do our best in all of what we do. A true Christian gives his all in all aspect of His life. We need to STOP Praying small, thinking small, receiving small. We have to tell the world that you are the best. We can even pray as if God has already given it to us.
2.       Tithe 10% – We are familiar of this. As we quote Malachi 3:10 –Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”
If we all believed that everything belongs to God, it is just right and just to give Him what he deserves. Many of us will struggle (and I am not exempted to that) but what is needed is the 10% of our heart. We give tithes to the Church or to our Community – to whom we get religious/spiritual growth.
3.       Invest 20% – Saving is not enough. Investing is the safe way as to investing in the “STOCK Market” is the best way retire young and retire a millionaire. This is way scary as soon as we see “Stock Market” but he explained that we will not go into the Buy & Sell part of the stocks, instead, be an investor to the country’s leading conglomerates!
Would you like to be a stock investor of SM? Hmmm Jollibee? Possible!  J
Bro. Bo shared that if he was successful in teaching his maids how to do it, what more us? The OFWs. To get more inspiration, here is a link of his book MY MAID INVESTS IN THE STOCK MARKET . . .
E Book Link :
I am no pro to this, so Bro. Bo suggested visiting his site for more details.
 4.       Live on 70% – The most challenging of all! Some of us might be living on 110%. The credit cards, loans, debts… But Bro. Bo said; let us live a simple life.  Simplify!
These abundance formula has been effective for most of the people who followed it, so if they can, why can’t we?
May God Bless us in our life and allow us to have Financial Freedom!

This 2015, lets add this to our resolutions!

How to Write Articles

How to Write Articles

Been encouraging some of our brethren to write for The Vineyard Magazine and found out that some of you are actually interested but didn’t know where to start. So I’m doing this post to give some basic tips on how to write an article in general. 🙂

Hey! Remember – that we don’t need a “pro” for this; what we need is your heart and commitment.

I often share during talks that I am a struggling writer. I have submitted stories and poem in my school paper but didn’t get them published. Yet I never stop writing. Writing calms me down and expressing my thoughts eases me. Way back then, my only audience was myself – because I wrote them on my diary. But my dream of being a writer comes alive when a good friend and fellow teacher from GEOS encouraged me to write a book review for Cebu’s ZEE Magazine!!!!

O diba, ayaw sa School paper dahil – sa Local Cebu magazine pala ang aking premier! Ha ha ha! 🙂

From that day on, when I saw my name on that magazine (of course I purchased one…) I never stopped dreaming.

I also had another printed short 5-8 liner quote in Cebu’s tabloid – Super Balita “Reader’s corner” where I won a grocery package for Christmas and eventually started my blog as my platform for all the thoughts on my head by writing.

Flashback 2012, with God’s grace – I end up with the community’s magazine – The Vineyard Magazine / TVM! See how God works in His ways? . . .

Anyhow enough about me, here is what this post is all about.

Let’s start…

What is an article?

·        It is a piece of writing usually intended for publication such as magazine, journal and newspaper. It is written for the wide audience that may include stories, events, reports, announcements and other information.
·        An article can describe an experience, present an opinion, compare and contrast, offer advices and suggestions.
·        It can be formal or informal (for The Vineyard, we accept it all J – allowing everyone to share their time and talent. Our goal is to inspire people, therefore I encourage that writers write their personal reflection and realization of the activities or event they are writing. Adding a quote or a bible passage suits best.

The Basic Format

Like in our English writing classes, an article has 3 basic parts: The introduction, main body & conclusion.

  • Introduction – this part clearly defines the topic to be covered and keep the reader’s attention.

  • Main Body– describe the events or stories with details for 3-5 paragraphs.

  • Conclusion– closing and summarizing the whole topic. It could be personal comment/final opinion or a recommendation through quotes ( bible verses is applicable for The Vineyard)
PLUS!!! An eye-catching TITLE!
Do you notice what you (as a reader) is attracted to when it comes to newspapers? It’s the intriguing titles and sub-heading titles. (Think of what articles – have you read lately and what made you read it?) – This one is a key to get your reader’s attention.

It may also answer the 5 Ws + H (if applicable) What, When, Where, Who and Why/How.

Remember as well to consider where the article your writing is for – a newspaper? A magazine or journal? , who are the readers and what is the aim of your article, does it follow to the goal of the newspaper/magazine you are writing for?

These are just the basics and google could offer you more ways and tips to make your article better.

As a closing to this post, let me inspire you with this:

 Happy writing everyone!

E.n.g.a.g.e.d! ♥

E.n.g.a.g.e.d! ♥

Every day is a Valentine!
As I browse my Facebook page – all I see is a flood of stories of single men & women doing their own hearts day; group dates, dinner dates with GGs (God’s Gift) bf-gf, couples or family at restaurants, some are at home and prepared sumptuous food to share with their loved one! I believe it is still going to continue for the next two (2) days! After all LOVE is a many splendored thing!

As for me and Koko –we celebrated this day at our own hub. He cooked lunch and I cooked dinner. 🙂

Just like other couples, this day is also a special day for us, aside from the fact that it is VALENTINES; it is also our Engagement anniversary!

Yes! You’ve read it right. He proposed on this very special day last year (2014). It was a cold, intimate and loving night.

Quotes from:

We often hear the priests and our brethren in the community to Give Thanks to the Lord.

In most of our teachings, I always hear that we rob ourselves of blessings by not thanking God for what all that he has done, is doing and will do for us. In Psalm 116:12-13 it says: “What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me? I will take up the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.”

Therefore in this post, I would like to share my own thoughts on the specific ways to express gratitude to the Almighty one!

I can hear the song intro: “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” (Psalms 100:4). Even Jesus himself stops and prayed 25 At that time Jesus said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Matthew 11:25

Here are 5 specific ways to express our Thank you to the Lord!

1.       Utter the words of Gratitude. As I write this line, I could hear Father Arlo saying “The one who thinks, THANKS!” Start the day with gratitude, say Thank you to Him at all times, may it be little blessings or big – say it loud and clear!

2.       Prayer of Thanksgiving. In our Households, we use ACTS – T – as Thanksgiving is a vital part of our prayers before asking anything else. Make a habit to always start your prayer with gratefulness.  Remember Him; make him a part of our thoughts. Talk to Him and choose to pray. PRAYING is an essential part of conveying our gratefulness to our Father. Simple prayers from the hearts matters. Go to Mass – Saying the words will not be enough, go to mass and express it there. After all keeping His special day and making sure that it is your “SUNdate / FRIdate” is a way to say Thank you!

3.       Attitude of Gratefulness & being Humble. Develop this thankful attitude towards God and to everyone around us. We are blessed because of Him and therefore we must keep that attitude. Together with that thought of being blessed, let us also keep our feet on the ground and stay humble. Make it a favorite line to say “Praise God” whenever you hear appreciation from others because of your work. After all it isn’t really you, it is Him!

4.       Obey His Commandments. This reminds me of the fresh encounter with SFL’s Extreme Adventure last week, when I was assigned for the 6th Road Block – Enumeration, wherein players were asked to enumerate the 10 commandments.

With these commandments, it is recommended that we repent from sinning. Repentance alone is our very specific way of following God and thus considered our way of appreciation. On our CLS Talk 3 – Repentance & Faith should be together and showing or doing both is a way of expressing our deep gratitude towards Him.

Note: if you have read this blog and would like to share it to other people, repost/share it and post it with the no. 1 commandment. I am sharing you nos. 2-10 J
1.       _____________________________________________
2.       You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.
3.       Remember to keep holy the Sabbath day.
4.       Honor your father and your mother.
5.       You shall not kill.
6.       You shall not commit adultery.
7.       You shall not steal.
8.       You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
9.       You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife.
10.   You shall not covet your neighbor’s goods.

5.       Be a vessel, Serve Others – Be a vessel of His goodness, allows God to use you for his purpose and glory. The Lord has blessed you; it is right & just that you give back. Being in a religious community is a great way to give back. Share your 3Ts – Time, Talent & Treasure to our brethren and to any other person in need. Serve others in any way possible: be a messenger of the good news; evangelize through talks or through our actions, share your time in the Church or in the community. Give tithes to your spiritual growth providers – it could be the church, or the community you are in. If you are not yet a member of any religious community, join one. It is a good help for your growth, I can attest to that because I used to think I’m okay, I’m good, I go to church – but is different when you live in a community life just like CFC-FFL /CFFL.

Finally, plus one – specific action I would recommend is to keep a Gratitude Journal! I am one diary girl and whenever I review/re-read my entries it continuously make me feel blessed or sometimes laugh at myself for the things I did. Keeping a gratitude journal would definitely bring us back to our senses on how blessed we are being a son/daughter of God!

I hope these ways could help you to become more expressive in saying or showing THANK YOU to the LORD our God!

Gracias Señor!

[grat-i-tood, -tyood] – Noun – the quality or feeling of being grateful or thankful

Tribute! Hats off to my SFL Life!

This year a new journey begins and that is another story to tell.
This time let me share about my SFL Life …!
Lately I have been working to renew the style of my blog and while browsing I found my very first blog about CFC-FFL. You can find it on this link :!/2011/02/repost-faith.html
From the very moment I have published the above post, I have never changed my stand about my faith. Struggles, disappointment, lousiness and all negative things have come their way both big and small but I have kept my feet on the ground. I have come a long way.

We started with 6 as the CORE Group of SFL (not counting the 2 “men” standing when they all started here: Ate Amie & Randy!!!)

< < < Flashback: Randy, he was my flat mate who invited and somehow “forced me” to join CLS… hehehe 🙂

The six were – Ate Amie and Randy, Ate Ash, Ate Lou, Darrelle & I.
We somehow have another set of SFL from Khalifa City that includes the next set of Servants: Ate Elnor; Followed by Sis Sasa, Kuya Mervin and Bro. Christian. Then the new breeds Rusty, Ron & Arlene.

See the photos below to know their faces..

After HH kainan!

Super Throwback thin photos! ha ha ha

The first 4 SFL sisters in Abu Dhabi!

Chillin outside while waiting for the activity to start.
My very first HH!

As for me, I started having my own HH (Household) – with Ate Amie (was & still my Servant). My first HH group is with 3 beautiful sisters: Sis Kath, Sis Lee Ann & Sis Tere…

Sis Kath got married and even have a beautiful adorable son, Nathan.
Sis Lee Ann tied the knot too!
While Sis Tere has her family as well.
Technically all of my first HH are now couples.

Household night with HH Group 2!

Here comes HH group 2 – while Sis Kath was waiting for Bro. Mike – new faces joined us: Sis Rochelle, and Sis Rose (Mylen). Some chose to rest, some left Abu Dhabi and finally Kath tied the knot.

So I was left alone. God, asked me to restart the button.

First HH with LHH Group 3

First Big Weekend with HH Group 3.

HH Group 3 comprises of Sis Jourjini, Sis Bhel & Sis Meann. Sis Meann stepped up and got her own Lower HH of 7 persons. But in less than a month or two; some went home, others a cold body, one got married. So she has Sis Cath & Sis Mari left. UHH (Upper HH) decided to merge us and while re-shuffling was happening at that time, Sis Mae becomes part of us too.

2014 Christmas Party! At nabuo din ang # H-H-L-O-V-E !!!

HH Group 4 becomes the latest Household. 4 for L-O-V-E. #HHLOVE – coined by the ever “given active” heheh Sis Cath! Because Household is love! At present this group comprises 7 that represents each letter off HHLOVE , not to forget the “hashtag” . Mari-Meann-Cath-Bhel-Mae-me and hashtag – new Sis from PH – Sis Bevz!
Our own elevator moment.

Regular HH days with Sis Emie!

Complete Service team for Discovery Weekend 2014

Christmas Party 2013 with #HHLove with Sis Jean.

A salute to this group is worth giving… with respect to all my past 3 HH groups, I have learned from them about the challenges of being a HH-Servant. God saw me, so he allowed me to feel blessed after sometime of keeping my faith.

Let me “alsa ng banko” a little J hehehe for the glory of God naman.
#HHLove has been actively visible to the community, helpful to me as a Servant in many ways. I honor these ladies for the contribution they have given to the SFL Ministry. I know once lang kami naging assigned to work on a certain weekend, but all these girls have proven that they have given their all to make it the best we could and we are all hopeful that we were able to make it a memorable one.
SFL UHH Sisters dine out!

This is one of my favorite SFL Weekend activity!

I’m gonna miss those Elevator Selfie moments!

One of the Teaching Nights for Servants. Ate Elnor in grey (Left side)

The last set of UHH Servants I worked with as SFL.
L-R : Bro Ron, Ate Lou, Ate Ash, Ate Amie, Kokobear , Bro Ryan  & Sis Arlene.

For my UHH – Upper Household, I would like to say Thank you for everything. Tried and tested din ang group na ito. I know I had my own fall and set-backs, but they were simply understanding. Ideas & opinion clashes at times but we still end up realizing that this is for the Lord. It feels like they are a family away from home. May tampuhan, iyakan, sayahan… and most of all we all know what is our goal and that is to work in HIS vineyard.

Here is a photo of our first UHH Group with Kuya Pong & Ate Nancy!

If I am to travel back in time and re-do my Abu Dhabi life for the past 6 years, I would say I will do the same thing again. As I have said, I am a better person because of the community. I am able to do what I want, what I wish I could.

Extreme Adventure 2015

The community allowed me to do what I do best (in my  opinion lang po, pwede namang mag object.. hehehe). It allows me to do my passion.

1.  My passion in teaching (through the talks and through the one-on-one relationship with the brethren… Ay! Don’t get me wrong, I can’t do that without God’s grace!… ,

During one of the Covenant Recollection…
Delivering CLS Talk 4.

CLS Talk 6 this time.

2.     My passion of hosting: in fact baka sawa na sa mukha ko ang mga bros & sis natin.. hahaha been doing that thing a year after being active…

3.  To Dance – presentations and all other required activities allows me to show that talent… (meron naman ng konti…)

Dancing 90s song during 2012 Live Pure Conference!

4.     To Sing!!!!! – Aha! You read it right. I’m no choir but I claim to be one of the members of the Choral who took the first SFL awards in the yearly Christmas Party contest!

5.     To Write – Often I share that I am a struggling writer, I have shared that I applied to be a part of our school paper but got rejected… But praise God! He allowed me to become EIC! (Editor in Chief) of The Vineyard! (Sinong mag-aakala na I would be able to share my simple words to the community? Thank you Lord!)

With the help of all contributors, praise God for giving me the strength to complete 4 issues! 🙂

6.     Finally TO SERVE! – Among all these opportunity, the most worth it, is of Service to our brethren, thus accomplishing God’s commandment of Loving our neighbor.

This year, 2015 – a new chapter of my life’s book starts to unfold as we cross over to CFL. A new challenge a new life! I will surely miss the life of being SFL but life goes on… I continue to pray that God be my shield and inspiration to continue the service we have started.

Becoming a part of Fraternal HH…
An elevator scene with the Fraternal Household

Cheers to the new service for 2015! Cheers to my SFL Life!
