Bonjour 2018

Bonjour 2018

bounjor 2018 - iamjmkayne.com.jpg

Bonjour 2018!

How time flies!?! January has just hit half way!

Isn’t it amazing that in a snap, we find ourselves changing 7 to 8 on our dates as we welcome 2018 with our calendars? Let me say BONJOUR 2018! There have been a couple of posts that was published right before this and somehow I feel the need to complete this themed post for my year’s chapter title. Right after this post is AU REVOIR AD. My emotional yet bitter-sweet salute to UAE’s capital. Watch out for it.

Let’s take a moment to REVIEW:

Last year, I have decided to start having a yearly theme, which will guide me as my north star whenever I feel the need to be reminded of my target/goal in each year. Making sure that I won’t fall back into that long-list of “New Year’s Resolution”, I instead wrote a THEME to follow and thus helps me accomplish what I’d like my year to be.

So, last year my theme was:

2017: Learn & Amplify Creativity.

Allow me then, to highlight what are my accomplishments for this theme.

In the quest to learn more, I have enrolled into 3 ILT (Instructor Led Training) courses from Filipino Institute Abu Dhabi. I’ve completed the ladderized format of Basic, Intermediate & Advanced HR & Admin.

[Sharing certificates photos, as soon as I collect them . . . ]

I also enrolled online classes from Arriane Serafico’s The Purposeful Creative & tried her free online classes. I did purchased her 2017 Braver Goals workbook too for a self-study and guide.

For Amplifying Creativity, I took the initiative to re-edit my talks for the CLS and tried my best to make them look better and deliver them as well in a heart-filled manner. Of course I won’t be able to do that without the guidance of the Holy Spirit. In between; –  creative tasks are also done for the community magazine – CFFL – Vineyard Magazine and other stuffs for family and friends. The DIY – G+M Wedding invites was my final 2017 creative Passion Project and indeed I am so happy to be able to complete it on time.

NOW: As I say hello to 2018, Bonjour 2018! Allow me to share my theme this year:

quote green - iamjmkayne.com

2018: A Year of

Passion Projects &

Breakthroughs

quotation-marks

#PPBreakthroughs2018

Similar to my community’s theme for this year; DESTINED for GREATNESS. I envisioned this year to be full of passion projects and breakthroughs in all aspects of my life. I believe God has created as in his likeness and image, thus like Him, we are on our way to greatness..

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own”

(1 Peter 2:9a)

When, I look back what happened to me last year – I’ve come to realized that it culminates into that destiny that God has created for me and Darrelle (Kokobear/ my husband). In fact earlier this year, Kokobear and I have moved to Dubai and been anointed to be God’s servants. Looking at the bigger picture, this is just only the beginning of His plans and I am so excited what are the other breakthroughs that will unfold according to His will.

I want to extend my biggest THANK YOU to all readers and followers, join me as we say Bonjour (Hello) to 2018. Let us face it with hope and assurance that God has promised us according to the scriptures from Jeremiah 29:11 and that of Romans 8:28.

May this year be filled with the dreams we wish to accomplish and ticked them off out of our list, may we be filled spiritually more than ever. Keep praying, it is free. Nourish your soul.

God bless us all!

Reflecting on 2017 – A Year-end Review

Over the past 12 months, yours truly has been into a whirlwind journey of employment & unemployment. I’ve been a bystander of change, immobility and of hopes and dreams.

In this year-end review allow me to divide it into 4 major life aspects; Personal, Relationship, Work Life & Community Life. In each aspect – I will share both the pros & cons.

View past reviews: 2016 | 2015 | 2014 | 2013 | 2012 | 2011

PERSONAL – What is #InMyHeart STATUS :

Cons: Where am I? What’s happening?

In between a few episodes of self pity and self awareness. I tend to ask these questions. It is more of the work-related issue than just the personal part… will explain it later.

Pro: Happy, Loved, on a sabbatical leave?!? 😜 I am happy. Yes I really am! This is a year that made me realize that no matter how low I (maybe be) in the other aspects of life, I’m 💯% sure that God hasn’t forsaken me. Happy because I’m in good health.

RELATIONSHIPS – What is #InMyHeart STATUS :

Cons: “Steady, no major changes.”

Yes, I belong to a community and yes I met a few but it didn’t really progress more than being in an acquaintance level, probably bcoz we’re in the Area Household. While work related connections is not really a thing for me this year.

Pro: Met 2 new fellas although only for a short while. Maintained and kept the regulars

Childhood friends, BES, High school, CNU, UC-ESL and GEOS groups remained minimal yet always connected. Meanwhile my whirlwind Abu Dhabi school stints created 2 new friends on the list; Juna a fellow UC-ESL Teacher in UCLM campus and Gina from Manila. These two happens to be my buddies during our teaching applications, demo, a week seminar and the 3 days school class preparation. Ended short yet sweets as we are still friends in FB.

My active status in a few Facebook blogging groups/communities have created FB Friends add and a few exchange of convos, share and commenting on each other’s blogs.

WORK LIFE – What is #InMyHeart STATUS :

Cons: Unemployed for 326 days. A month leave & 8 days at TPGS

You are reading it correctly. Almost a whole year of stand by, I was and still am.

Pros : Great BlogLife

Away from office life is a busy net life for me and for this #PassionProject of mine – this blog, www.iamjmkayne.com #InMyHeartJMKaynesBlog. Over the past 12 months I have curated a total of 34 blog posts and what makes me so proud of it, is the facts that my “target” sponsored blogposts/ collaborations have been met and even surpassed. I’ve shared a mini review of those brands on this blogpost: 5 Gift Ideas and a Collaboration Review for 2017.

The truth is, my salary with my last employer will never be covered with these 8 sponsored blog posts, nevertheless these works of mine have brought me joy and confidence in the blogging world. There is fulfillment thereof.

COMMUNITY LIFE – What is #InMyHeart Status:

Cons: Limited, tested and challenged.

Limited because as I mentioned earlier we’re in the AreaHH (a CFFL/CFC-FFL member can relate or understand why). Tested – because of only 1 HH Spiritual growth has started to come dry. Challenged – because Kokobear has to step overboard to awaken situations and drive pathway in a different road.

Pros: Opened, Active and Challeged for 2018

Opened – because Kokobear spilled the beans, somehow a reconstruction has been made. I have to say though that a few people remain the same no matter what correction or openness you have been. It’s just “them”. … Active – for the whole year we both are active Area PFO and have delivered some talks to different ministries yet SFL has the quota. I guess it is because we’re coming from that group and the familiarity of field is easy for us. Personally I’d say it’s been a challenges. Often times when you deliver a talk it must or maybe somehow represents who you are… the downside for me is that – being jobless – at times makes me wonder how do I convey His greatness if I for one is not blessed with a job?!? Yet it has been so clear to me, I AM BLESSED! No matter what circumstances I am for this season, I am being carried by the King 👑 and that He will never forsaken me. So therefore I am giving all back to Him all the success and “touched by the holy spirit” 🕊 moment I and other CLS participants had during my talks. I am nothing but an instrument used by the Almighty. You rock Jesus!! 👆🏻

These are the four major aspects. Allow me then to do some shorties:

  • Health – Praise God I’ve been doing well. My insurance has expired since last year and glory to God for never making me sick all these time.
  • Exercise & Diet – Still gaining. 😔 It’s a shortcoming I have since last year… Don’t wanna make some promises that I may fail again. Crossing fingers I could break this!
  • Beauty – Hmmmmp not really sure if I did anything, but face has been attacked with all these pimples, I guess it’s also related to health. I learned that hormonal imbalances is one of the causes of this outbreak. Also, because I don’t have a day job, I tend to sleep very late. In fact, I sleep very early between 2 – 4 am.
  • Family – Lil bro is not little anymore! He’s tying the knot and will soon become a dad! Mamo and Dado are doing well too.
  • Byahe Ng Kokobears – because if what happened this year, we missed our yearly travel. Hope to cover it next year!
  • Kusina Ni Kayne – made new blog posts and a couple of videos too! Recently have my own kitchen (sharing no more) so hopefully I will get to do more cooking 🥘 and baking! 🥖 🎂

Reflecting on 2017 with the above sharing accumulated the facts that Jeremiah 29:11 (one of my fave life verses) is been passed. It says:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

My prayer of having a new job for 2017 was not answered, yet I fret no more. God has answered me “wait, I have a plan” Indeed He has! This year is not for me, but for my husband. This year His mighty hands led us north. We bid goodbye to Abu Dhabi this December and will embark a new journey as couples and as servants of God as we move to Dubai. In fact, our home 🏡 is now ready. 😄 What will Dubai and/or 2018 bring? Only He can tell. What’s #InMyHeart? Is peace and assurance that we are in the palm of His hands.

May God always bless all of us especially to you reading this and of those – a handful of friends/followers who read my blogs.

This has been JM Kayne signing off for this year, Adios 2017!

God bless,

SRI LANKA Day 2 – Sigiriya, Elephant Ride & Safari

It’s day 2 blog now! Catch the earlier stories and previous post links at the end of this blog.

Day 2 – Sigiriya,  Elephant Ride & Safari
-Left hotel at 5:30 am
– Hike Sigiriya Mountain
– Elephant ride
– Safari
– Head home, dinner on the way at Mango Mango
– Arrived hotel at 11:30 pm

Climbing Sigiriya in Dambulla
Entrance – 4620 Rupees (125 AED) – Kinldy note that Locals & Foreighners have different entrance fee.

Tour Guide – starts at 400 Rupees ( more or less 35 AED ++) – Optional.

SIGIRIYA as you read it on Wikipedia is world reknown site (a rock fortress) that has the shape of a lion. Its name – Sīhāgiri, means the Lion Rock. Some of the attractions within this fortress are the Mirror Walls, The Garden, The Water Gardens, the paintings, Boulder Gardens and Terraced Gardens. The most rewarding is that when you reach the top, you will get a view of Sri Lanka 360. Today, Sigiriya is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Elephant Ride @ Green Island Elephant Safari
Entrance – Free
Elephant Ride – 3500 Rupees (95-120 AED or 25 USD)
Tip – Expected (At least 500 Rupees and above)
We were in a not so good timing for this elephant ride. While the other sites are closed… The only option we had was this place. We reached the place with only 2 elephants, one is not in action, so only one is available and there was a queue of tourist. During this month, Buddhist people offer their elephants to the temples for a festival. This is where they paint and put on beautiful and colorful clothes/designs to each elephant, but then we still got that chance, therefore I was able to tick off this bucket list! We end up 3rd in line and had a very short ride with Rani. Kokobear is the one who enjoyed it most; he had a chance to be riding on the neck of Rani!

Safari Adventure @ Habarana
Entrance – 1000 Rupees (35-40 AED)

Safari Jeepney – 4800 Rupees (137 -150 AED) – Can take up to 6-8 persons
Tip – For the Driver, expected(At least 1000 Rupees and above)
It took as a few minutes to reach the entrance to the Safari area – a 20-25 minutes ride as well to reach the heart of a very wide land, lush green grasses, a lake in between and hundreds of birds around it. I expected more animals. Although variety of birds were there, a flock of cows/carabao  or I think a family of both – – a water buffalo, an eagle, a peacock, squirrels, and a big number of small and gigantic elephants!!! Actually I was a bit disappointed with this Safari ride but still happy to see this wonderful place. I will be showing you off more photos of these animals that Kokobear captured on a separate blog post soon.
Three major sites and a 5-6 hour long drive have occupied our day 2. A bit tiring but feel fulfilled with Sigiriya being conquered by the 3 of us! A closer look and touch with the Elephants is also something amazing. I missed to see a leopard though! Dinner was at Mango Mango a local restaurant that served us fried chicken, vegetable rice and noodles. The hard day has wrapped up at around 12:00 midnight!
